Traditionally, Holy Saturday is bicycle day in Belize. And every year it seems that it is a foreigner that is hoisting the trophy and taking away the cash prizes or even a bull at the end of the 140 mile Cross Country Cycling Classic. The Belizean reports that this year was particularly bad as Mexican Carlos Lopez took first place followed by his countrymen in second and third place.

The Amandala Sport’s editorial discusses the inability of Belize to produce top level cyclists, and laments that Belizean cyclists are finding it hard to compete in much less win their own race. He notes that the Belize Cross Country Cycling Classic has become a rivalry between the American Gringos and the Mexicans–this time the Mexicans were victorious.
