As part of our continuing coverage of the controversial Lord Ashcroft we came across this video of Belizeans protesting in front of the Ashcroft controlled Belize Bank in Belize City, Belize.

A grainy video of Belizean’s peacefully but loudly declaring their dislike of Lord Ashcroft in Belize City on June 18th 2008. This protest was in response to news coverage of Ashcroft’s bank, The Belize Bank, whose involvement in a $20 million dollar scam became apparent. The scam saw money diverted from the national treasury to cover an illegally signed deal guaranteeing a private loan. The deal was signed by then Prime Minister Said Musa, who was recently found “not guilty” of abuse of power, despite the law clearly indicating that any deal in excess of $10 million dollars must be approved by the National Assembly.
